Prime Loops say that "...the 140+ fat drum loops have an extremely big sound, and showcase a diverse collection of styles with deep sonic character..." and I can't find anything to disagree with there.
The loops themselves sound hiphop based, and tempos range generally from around 80 - 110BPM. But it wasn't really the loops I was interested in - mainly the drum sounds for chopping up purposes, which are indeed big, bashy and full of character. Eminently useable for several different genres, and I've already used some of them in tracks; they go from heavy Dirty South style 808s, to big chunky Timbaland style acoustic sets.
I don't know if I'd use any of them wholesale - but then there's an argument to be had about whether you should really be taking sample CD's and lifting things straight into your tunes anyway - but the drum sounds are, basically, superb.
So much variety, for 13 quid this is an absolute snip. The only fault I really noticed was that some loops had a slight DC offset, so careful chopping is required. But then you knew that, right? You're a careful, diligent producer, aren't you. Anyway - highly recommended.
